William P. Cordrey, former Acme manager

Mr. William P. “Bill” Cordrey of Georgetown passed away peacefully with his wife by his side Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milfrod.

Bill was born in Millsboro Sept. 1, 1938, to the late Preston and Mary Davis Cordrey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi Ruth Cordrey.

He retired as a manager in 1998 after working for Acme for 32 years. He then worked for Intervet and retired in 2006.

He loved all sports, especially the Ravens and Phillies. He and Hazel loved to travel, and especially loved traveling to the mountains. Virginia Beach was their favorite vacation spot. He was deeply devoted to his family. He loved snack foods, especially Tastykakes and Coke.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel (Stoeckel) Cordrey of Georgetown; a son, Pastor Christopher Cordrey and his wife Jaclynn of Millsboro; a stepson; Danny Stoeckel and his wife Cristy of Millsboro; three brothers, Bob Cordrey and his wife Eleanor of Millsboro, Charles Cordrey and his wife Diane of Dagsboro and Donald Cordrey formerly of Millsboro; three granddaughters and a stepgranddaughter, Kaitlin Stoeckel of Millsboro. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A funeral service and celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 21, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call after 1 p.m. for visitation. A private burial will be held following the service at Millsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Hwy, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
