Russell R. Evans, retired vice president

Russell R. Evans, 73, of Lewes, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, following an eight-year battle against cancer. He was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Orange, N.J., son of the late John Russell and Helen (Wiley) Evans. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Donna, in 2010.

Russ was executive vice president of Hertrich Fleet Services, based in Milford, a subsidiary of the Hertrich Family of Automobile Dealerships, providing new vehicles to federal, state, county, and local government agencies. Previously in his 40-year automotive career, he was with the Winner Automotive Group and Colonial Chevrolet, both of Wilmington. Prior to his automotive career, he worked for Household Finance Corporation for 10 years and served in the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed in Cape May from 1960-64.

Russ was a member of the National Association of Fleet Administrators, American Legion Post 17, Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540, Sussex County FOP Lodge 2 and the Lewes Yacht Club.

He is survived by his fiancée Sandy Bonner; daughter Kimberly Duggan; stepson Jeffrey Faull (Joan); and grandchildren Wil and Kate Duggan, and Jill and Jacob Faull.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 22, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may begin visiting at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Hwy., Lewes, DE 19958, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
