Cape boys' lax drops opener 10-6 to Bullis School

March 24, 2014

The Cape Henlopen boys' lacrosse squad made the two-hour-plus trip to Potomac, Md., March 22 and dropped a 10-6 opening-day contest to a tough Bullis School squad.

Four senior Vikings scored during the hard-fought contest with the Maryland lacrosse powerhouse. Luke Benson and Todd Keen scored two goals each, while Matt Kane and Blake Mann added one goal each.

Benson had two assists in the game while Kane, Mann and Michael Hopkins each added one helper.

Senior goalkeeper Grant Gillian was credited with 14 stops in the cage.

"The little things were the difference maker," said head coach Jack Lingo. "We lost some ground balls on our defensive end, had some turnovers and had poor shot selection on offense."

"We need to take better care of the ball throughout the game," said assistant coach Mark D'Ambrogi.

The Vikings will play host to Sussex Tech Wednesday, March 26, at Legends Stadium.
