Frances H. Corson, legal secretary

March 24, 2014

Frances H. Corson, affectionately known as "Fran," 74, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at her home in Lewes. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa. Feb. 13, 1940, daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Schuckert) Gross.

Fran was a 1957 graduate of Little Flower High School, Philadelphia, and embarked on a lifelong career as a legal secretary. She worked for many prominent legal firms in the greater Philadelphia area and most recently worked part time in Rehoboth Beach for Michael D. Carr Law Offices.

Fran enjoyed travelling, especially to the Charleston, S.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C. resorts. She loved spending time on the local beaches in Lewes and Rehoboth with family and friends. Whenever time permitted, Fran could be found concentrating on solving a new word quiz or reading a recent novel.

Another favorite past time of Fran's was shopping. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Fran knew she supported Macy's with her numerous shopping trips and would joke how she was doing her part to keep Macy's in business!

Fran will be remembered as a most loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Fran's family was always her priority and she will be missed deeply by them.

Fran is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Alfred of Lewes; a son: Alfred Corson Jr. of Philadelphia; three daughters: Kimberly Roman and husband John of Wilmington, Cathy Corson of Philadelphia and Kristin Blais and husband David of Mount Airy, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m., at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2000 Shelmire Ave., Philadelphia, where friends may visit beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be private.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Fran's memory may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society, 55 Chapel St., Suite 200, Newton, MA 02458.
