UNICO assists at local kitchens and shelters

April 19, 2014

Members of both the Rehoboth Area Chapter and the Delmarva Chapter of UNICO National gathered to celebrate Saint Joseph’s Day, March 19, and to aid local food kitchens.

Fresh bread, donated by Nicola Pizza and blessed by Father Joseph Piekarski, pastor of St. Edmond Church in Rehoboth Beach, was distributed to Casa San Francisco, a homeless shelter in Milton, and the Soup Kitchen at the Methodist Church in Millsboro, which provides meals to almost 200 shut-ins.

In addition to the Saint Joseph’s Bread, a tradition still observed in many parts of the world, nonperishable items, along with milk, juice, and butter were donated by members of St. Edmond Parish.

Members of UNICO throughout the United States will gather again in April to observe National Community Service Month.
