Clear Space to present free spring performances starting April 8

April 3, 2014

Clear Space Theatre Company of Rehoboth Beach and its Arts Institute will offer three free public performances from spring classes.

The first of the three free performances, 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, is the signature Broadway Bound program where younger performers deliver song and dance. Instructors Judy Moore, Jann Ellis, and Christa Pardocchi have been working diligently with the students on numbers like "Corner of the Sky" from the musical "Pippin" and "Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile" from "Annie."

The Legends of Broadway students, ages 50 and up, invite the public to attend their production of "Annie Get Your Gun" at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 19. Taught by the team of Artistic Director Doug Yetter and Company Manager David Button, this challenging show is a condensed staged reading/sing-through of the original. All of the songs and memorable characters are intact, with some choreography and scenes taken directly from the original Broadway script. The production features songs like "There's No Business Like Show Business!" and "Doin' What Comes Naturally."

Finally, at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, April 13, Clear Space offers the 3-P's: Process, Performance, Participation. This presentation uses a mixture of monologues, exercises and some audience participation to highlight acting techniques that were explored by the Clear Space Acting Company during the 10-week session such as puppetry, stage combat, and new works. This is a very relaxed evening about learning the process of acting through the workshops in their adult acting class. Wine, beverages, and snacks will be served.

No tickets or reservations are required; just show up and have fun! There is free on-street parking nearby on the ocean block of Baltimore Avenue.
