Irene Rust Tucker, devoted mother

Irene Rust Tucker, 78, of Bridgeville, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood.

She was born in Bridgeville April 25, 1935,.She was the daughter of the late Luther and Blanche Rust of Bridgeville.  Irene was a 1953 graduate of Bridgeville High School where she played basketball and went by the nickname Rusty. She continued her education at Goldey-Beacom where she played basketball on a scholarship.  Irene married her high school sweetheart Morris "Jackie" Tucker in 1954.

Irene worked in several capacities over the years.  She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother, banker, loving caregiver and poultry farmer.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years Morris Tucker; daughter Laura Phillips and husband Ben of Seaford; son Morris R. Tucker and wife Teresa of Seaford; two grandchildren, Cole Phillips and Heather Smoot, both of Seaford; and three great-grandchildren, Korea, Kyler and Kaleb Smoot.

Irene will be remembered for her undying love she gave her husband during their marriage, the compassionate care she provided him after his accident 30 years ago, her beautiful smile, and the love she had for her children.

All services will be private. Interment will be at Bridgeville Cemetery.
