Lewes firefighters respond to Danfield Acres fire

At 4:36 a.m., Saturday, March 29, the Lewes Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fIre in Danfield Acres near Harbeson. With 12 members staffing Station 1, Rescue 82, Engine 82-5, 82-8, and A-82 responded soon after the dispatch.

Capt. Dylan Sharp arrived on the scene reporting a travel trailer fully involved in the side yard of the residence. The firefighters stretched a 300-foot attack line and Engine 82-5 deployed a 200-foot CAFS line. Crews made a quick knockdown on the fire while protecting the residence and additional exposures.

Tanker 82-4 arrived on the scene for additional water supply and Engine 82-1 provided additional manpower. All members did an excellent job in quickly controlling this fire and preventing further damage.

The American Red Cross Delmarva Region is assisting the resident after the fire damaged their Danfield Road home. The Red Cross is providing a safe place to stay, food, clothing and a comfort kit.
