Cape soccer runs past Central 7-0

The Cape girls' soccer team moved to 3-0 on the season with a 7-0 shutout of the Golden Knights April 1 at Sussex Central.

Defender Amalie Maroey took a pass from Shelby Thomas and hit the back of the net just 19 minutes into the contest. Maroey reciprocated by assisting Thomas on a goal at the 25-minute mark to end the first-half scoring.

The second half found the Vikings totally dominating the Knights as striker Cassandra Garcia scored three goals with helpers from Thomas (2) and Sarah Schlater. Thomas scored her second goal of the game with an assist from Amanda Atkinson, while Madeline Smith ripped the twine with a helper from Atkinson.

The Vikings took 24 shots in the game, while goalkeeper Olivia Baratto made 10 stops of Golden Knights shots.
