Cape boys and Sussex Tech girls rock track tri-meet

On April 3 at Sussex Tech under drizzly and annoyingly windy track conditions, Sussex Tech, Cape and Milford went after each other in both boys' and girls' competitions.

The Cape boys were double winners, beating Sussex Tech 85.5-60.5 and Milford 99-47. Sussex Tech also beat Milford 81-65.

In the girls' meet, Sussex Tech beat Cape 88-58 and Milford 108-38.  Cape beat Milford 101-45.

Highlights from the boys' meet included a rocket man double by Tyreik Burton winning the 100 meters in 10.7 seconds and the 200m in 22.6.

Sonny Landis and Austin MacElrevey raced to a dead heat in the 1,600m in 4:52, while Elias Harmon of Tech won the 800 wire to wire with a time of 2:10.    Sam Hete of Tech won the 3,200 in 10:31.

Sam Young of Cape jumped 13 feet to win the pole vault. A full list of results can be found at websites4sports.com.

Some highlights from the girls' meet include Brianna Hall of Tech winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14.7, the long jump in 16-5 and triple jump in 34-feet-6-inches. Anshe Boyer of Cape won the 100m in 12.3 and 400m in 1:06.6. Roxanne Ramirez of Tech won the 1,600m in 5:41 and 3,200m in 12:39. Megan Hart won the high jump with a leap of 4-8.

Cape will host Polytech Tuesday, April 8.
