A 16-year-old Milton girl was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police say she led police on a chase early morning April 7.
A trooper on patrol noticed a silver Chevrolet Impala driving erratically at 2:15 a.m. on Route 1 near Dartmouth Road, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
The teen stopped the car southbound on Route 1 near Bay Vista Road before making a sudden U-turn heading northbound in the southbound lanes, Fournier said.
She crossed the center median north of Bay Vista Road into the northbound lanes and continued driving in the bus lanes; the car came to a stop after it blew a front tire, Fournier said.
She did not have permission from her parent to drive the car, Fournier said.
Police charged the teen with felony disregarding a police officer signal, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while suspended and revoked, driving on the wrong side of the road, speeding and numerous other moving violations.
She was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center in default of $3,041 secured bond.
