Fresh off her full-length album, “Me,” released March 18, two-time Grammy Award nominee Jo Dee Messina will appear in the Rollins Center at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino at 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5. Tickets are priced from $25 to $45 and may be purchased via VIP Services at 800-711-5882 or doverdowns.com.

Debuting in 1996 with her single, “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” she performed over 215 shows and sold over 500,000 copies. Her second album, released in 1998, “I’m Alright” earned her five Top 10 country hits and sold over 1 million copies.

“That’s the Way,” the lead song on “Burn,” her third album, which was released in 2000, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart along with Top 10 hits “Burn” and “Downtime.” That same year, Messina received the Horizon Award from the Country Music Association and also won Most Played Female at Country Radio from Billboard Magazine. Her duet with Tim McGraw, “Bring on the Rain,” reached No. 1 in 2001.

Messina has also released holiday and greatest hits albums. She marked her comeback to country music in 2005 with the release of “Delicious Surprise”; it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Music charts.

Messina’s approach to her latest album, “Me,” was unique. She used the crowd-funded website kickstarter.com to create her album, engaging her fans the entire time for suggestions on the name, artwork, songs and the title.

Messina has also had her spotlight on the TV screen, guest starring in shows such as "Crash and Burn," "Nash Bridges" and "Touched by an Angel." She is best known for her songs “Lesson in Leavin’,” “My Give a Damn’s Busted,” “You’re Not in Kansas Anymore,” and “Bye, Bye.”
