Jerry W. Thornes, Mountaire retiree
Jerry W. Thornes, 65, of Georgetown, passed away at Beebe Healthcare Sunday, April 6, 2014.
Mr. Thornes was born July 20, 1948, in Virginia to the late Paige and Norma Grace Wells Thornes. Before his retirement, Jerry worked in the general maintenance department for Mountaire, formerly Townsends in Millsboro.
He was a devoted family man who did everything he could for his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He was a fun man who liked a good joke.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ethel Thornes; two sons, Chauncey Parsons and his wife Jennifer and Danny Parsons all of Georgetown; one daughter, Margaret Parsons of Salisbury, Md.; a sister, Frances Yeo; an aunt, Denna Ward; seven grandchildren, Courtney, Jamie, Zachary, William, Jessica, Lynn and C.J. He is also survived by his special canine friend Cocoa as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 13, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call after 1 p.m. for visitation.
