Cape boys' track racing toward reality after 99-42 win over Polytech

All in, all undefeated: Dover and CR April 15

The Cape Henlopen boys' track team is running toward reality after another easy win, 99-42 over visiting Polytech. The Vikings have another “run over” against Sussex Central before heading into the Keith Burgess Invitational Saturday, April 12, followed by a Tuesday, April 15 tri-meet at Dover versus the Senators and Caesar Rodney. That will be a meet where all three boys' teams go in undefeated.

Pole vaulter Sam Young has emerged as a pretty good hurdler, winning the 110-meter highs in 16.9 and 300m intermediates in 43.3.

Tyreik Burton won the 100m in 11.2 and 200m in 23.4 and ran on both winning relays, the 400 and 800.

Austin MacElrevey won the 1,600 in 4:56.0 and 3,200 in 11:16.0.

Stephen Anderson of Cape won the 400 with a smooth one-lap run in 55.7.

The girls defeated Polytech 107-35 behind Meghan Hart, who won the high jump at 5-feet-0-inches and triple jump with a leap of 31-8, and Madison MacElrevey, who won the 1,600 in 5:45.0 and the 800 in 2:36.0.

DaJonte Mackey won the 100 hurdles in 16.8 while Tyra Weatherly won the 300 hurdles in 49.4.

The girls improved to 3-1 on the season.
