Lewis G. Conn, Reed Trucking retiree

Lewis G. Conn, 77, of Millsboro, formerly of New Castle, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at his home.

Lew was born in West Chester, Pa., Sept. 22, 1936, son of the late Hayes and Leta Conn Sr. He was a veteran proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy.

Lew spent 42 years as a truck driver, first for North American Van Lines then for Reed Trucking Company in Milton. He was an active member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro, serving in many capacities before his health began to decline. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as the past district deputy for District No. 1 and was the past grand knight of the Bishop James C. Burke Council No. 11285. Lew will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who loved to laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa A. Howe-Conn; four children, Natalie (Rick) Patton of Magnolia, Christopher (Maria) Conn of Swedesboro, N.J., Patrick (Evelyn) Conn of Clayton and Anthony (Lisa) Conn of Middletown; four stepchildren, Sharon (Bob) Howe of Wilmington, Betsy Fols of Newark, Judy (Kevin) Wyatt of Newark and Terry (Alan) Dean of Middletown; three brothers, Hayes “Bud”Conn Jr. of Millville, Richard Conn of Millsboro and Kenneth Conn of Wilmington; a sister, Kathryn Fahey of Bear; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; a great -grandson; and a stepgreat-granddaughter.

Friends and family are welcome to attend Lew’s visitation that will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at noon at the church. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Lew’s name to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Blvd., Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
