Attempted robbery in Georgetown

April 14, 2014

A 47-year-old Georgetown man faces attempted robbery after police say he asked a woman for $1 and then more after he implied he had a knife.

Rodney Hopkins was near the Kleen Kat Car wash at 3:30 p.m. April 10 when he asked a woman for $1, said Lt. Lawrence A. Grose.

The woman was sitting in her car and pulled a dollar out of a bank envelope when Hopkins told her to give him all the money because he had a knife, Grose said.

The woman rolled up her car window and drove away; Hopkins was found about two blocks away on Bramhall Street.

Police charged Hopkins with attempted robbery and trespassing; he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of an undisclosed bond.
