Cape theatre production outstanding

April 15, 2014

I had the extreme pleasure of being in the audience when the Cape Henlopen High School Theatre Academy presented “The Crucible.” What an excellent production! The cast, every one of them, was pitch-perfect. So many lines to memorize! So many stage directions that required many changes of scenes and positions! The cast and crew handled it all with excellent timing and, altogether, smooth professionalism.

Also, the background set design of irregular fencing; the lighting, especially when the glow on the horizon signaled the morning of the hangings; the authentic costumes and the ease with which the characters wore them were all of one piece, creating a hard-hitting drama that was surely true to Arthur Miller’s original creation.

Congratulations to Director Martha Pfeiffer and all her staff for a job well done. I am a teacher in the Academic Challenge Program at Del Tech and several of my students were in this production. We in the AC Program are fortunate, indeed, to have students such as these.
