A Millsboro man and woman face charges after the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement raided a VFW April 12 in connection with illegal alcohol sales at the facility.
Agents had received several complaints about illegal alcohol sales, underage drinking and disorderly groups at the Sussex Memorial VFW Post 7422 in Millsboro, said John Yeomans of the Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement.
On several occasions, agents conducted surveillance at the VFW at 28659 DuPont Boulevard in Millsboro and secured a purchase of alcoholic beverages from inside the VFW, Yeomans said.
During the raid, he said, agents seized a large amount of alcoholic beverages and $696 in cash. Agents arrested Ray O. Snead, 48, and Tykena M. Hagans, 24, both of Millsboro and charged them with selling alcohol without a license and illegal storage of alcohol. Both were released on unspecified bond.
Neither the VFW or the promoter of the special events held at the VFW Post 7422 are licensed by the state to sell alcoholic beverages, Yeomans said.
