Demolition of a majestic home once owned by philanthropist Mario Capano on East Side Drive in Rehoboth Beach began April 14.
The house is located east of the Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club clubhouse.
According to records found online under the Sussex County website, the property is 1.07 acres and was sold in July 2013 by Rebecca Capano to a limited liability corporation called JE Real Estate.
Realtor.com says the property sold for $4.137 million and that the 10-bedroom, 13.5-bathroom house was built in 1998.
Coastline Excavating LLC owner Scott Lednum is in charge of the demolition. He said it will take about a week to demolish the 12,200-square-foot building and concrete pool.
