Adult education students enjoy legislative luncheon

April 20, 2014

Sussex Tech Adult Division students were guests at the annual Meet and Greet the Many Faces of Adult Education Legislative Luncheon held March 27 in Dover. The gathering is held to provide a casual atmosphere where students and legislators can converse about the immediate and long-term value of adult education in Delaware.

The event was hosted by Sen. Cathy Cloutier, R-Heatherbrooke, and attended by many state legislators, including Rep. Tim Dukes, R-Laurel; Sen. Robert Venables, D-Laurel; Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown; and Sen. Gerald Hocker, R-Ocean View.

Following lunch, legislators heard from students about how the adult education programs in Delaware are positively affecting their lives and the lives of those around them. Speaking for adult students at Sussex Tech were Chanteea Harmon, Shemieka Jones, and Maria Sandoval. James H. Groves Adult High School Principal Terri Corder accompanied the students to the luncheon.
