Big Fish owners to open the Crab House

Opening planned for before Memorial Day
April 30, 2014

Big Fish Grill owners Eric and Norman Sugrue are planning to open the Crab House on Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach this Memorial Day.

The restaurant, currently under renovation in the former Beachcomber, will offer all-you-can-eat hard shell crabs, fresh seafood and a raw bar, Eric said. He also expects to offer 36 draft beers.

“It's just a good old-fashioned crab house,” he said.

Located at 19598 Coastal Hwy., the restaurant was also previously home to the Crab Barn, Timothy's and Wahoo.

The name Crab House is significant to the Sugrues because that was the name of the restaurant they took over in 1996 to open the original Big Fish Grill just a few miles down the road.

“When we were deciding the name, we felt it was appropriate to bring back the Crab House,” Eric said.

The Big Fish Restaurant Group also owns Salt Air and Summer House in Rehoboth; Firestone in Wilmington; and Big Fish Wholesale and Big Fish Seafood Market in the Cape Region.

The restaurant is currently hiring. To apply for a job, go to bigfish.hyrell.com.
