Apostle Douglas Lane Showell Sr., 63, of Millsboro, departed this life Friday, April 18, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. Born in Ocean View, he was the son of Mary Ellen Showell Diggs of Frankford and the late Albert Drew.
At the time of his passing, he was the pastor of Coming Down From Heaven Ministries Inc. in Dagsboro. He also owned and operated D & L Cleaning in Millsboro. He was a graduate of Faith Deliverance Bible Institute.
In addition to his mother, fond memories will remain with his wife, Lou Brenda Showell of Millsboro; one daughter, Tammy Inez White of Wilmington; two sons, Douglas Lane (Lakisha) Showell Jr. of Salisbury, Md., and Douglas Lane (Alisha) Showell III of Laurel; two sisters, Cynthia (Thomas) Finney of Lincoln and Gwendolyn Johnson of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other in-laws, and friends.
Apostle Showell will lie in repose from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, April 25, at Calvary Pentecostal Church, 13325 Worcester Highway in Bishopville, Md. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Pastor Thomas Hoy Jr. will be the officiant and Douglas L. Showell III will be the eulogist. Interment will follow in Curtis United Methodist Church Cemetery on Campbelltown Road in Bishopville. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home P.A. in Salisbury.
