Cape May – Lewes Ferry’s “On the Rocks” Waterfront Eateries Opens for Summer Season - Waterfront Locations to Feature Local Craft-Brewed Beers; New Menu Selections
(Cape May, NJ) Today, Cape May – Lewes Ferry (CMLF) officials announced that the “On the Rocks (OTR) Waterfront Eateries” located at the water’s edge at both the Cape May and Lewes ferry terminals are open for the summer season. On Friday, April 25, both OTR locations will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. till dusk. After Memorial Day, these outdoor waterfront locations will be open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. till dusk.
New menu selections are available at both “On the Rocks” locations! “We are excited to open up our signature outdoor locations,” said Joe Peltz, Superintendent of Food and Retail. “On the Rocks” in Cape May & Lewes are the perfect place to watch the ferry vessels come and go or simply take in the beauty of the Delaware Bay while enjoying a juicy burger or fresh seafood. Our customers expect a great experience here at the Ferry and we’re going to do everything we can to exceed those expectations.”
While OTR will offer some of the same popular menu items that have become fan favorites over the years, the Ferry food service chefs plan to introduce a number of new entrée and appetizer choices. Customers can now enjoy a new Raw Bar in Cape May complete with peel & eat shrimp, locally raised oysters, middleneck clams and our steamed littleneck clams. In both Cape May & Lewes new offerings include fish & chips, conch fritters, blackened shark bites, clam chowder, lump crab ceviche, Maryland crab dip with pretzel roll, fresh cooked potato chips with onion dip or a bay salad with an option to add crab cake, jerk chicken, Caribbean burger or buffalo chicken tenders.
Local beers on tap will include both new and familiar varieties from the Cape May Brewery, Dogfish Head, 16 Mile, 3rd Wave and Mispillion River Brewing. We also offer several signature summer cocktails to include Shark Tank, fresh squeezed Orange Crush and Pain Killer.
In addition, Peltz noted that a new menu of freshly-prepared “On-the-Go” items are available now inside the terminals for customers to enjoy ashore or to take with them onboard the ferries. “Customers can enjoy our new signature sandwich series, such as our Old Bay Chicken Salad, Italian Sub, Ham & Cheddar or Turkey & Provolone. These sandwiches feature freshly baked Touch of Italy rolls and premium deli meats and cheeses sliced on site. Our new salads have really taken off too! The new fresh Fruit & Nut Salad is prepared fresh on site, and features dried cranberries and praline pecans. It has already proven to be a best seller.”
