Del Tech holds annual Starry Starry Night Gala

May 6, 2014

Delaware Technical Community College held its 20th Annual Starry Starry Night Gala April 26 at the Jack Owens Campus in Georgetown. The gala is a fundraiser for Delaware Tech’s Educational Foundation and has helped to provide funds for textbooks, scholarships and tutoring services, student learning tools for classrooms, building expansion and the arts programming capacity of the campus theater.

The gala raised $300,000, and over the past decade has raised $3 million for the college. The theme of the event was “Changes in Attitudes, Changes in Latitudes,” giving the event a laid back spirit and flare for the unusual that is uniquely Key West. The schools gym was turned into Mallory Square and other attractions like the Hog's Breath Saloon and the Key West Golf Club lining the halls added to the Key West atmosphere. Also featured at the event was A1A, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band and Illusionist Michael Grasso performing in the theater.

Shown socializing in “Mallory Square” are (l-r) Joan Conaway, Campus President Dr. Lonnie George, Linda George, and Polly and Jay Mervine.
