Rossini's 'La Cenerentola' Live in HD May 10 in Cape High theater

April 29, 2014

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society and the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation will present the Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD broadcast of Rossini’s charming opera “La Cenerentola” at 12:55 p.m., Saturday, May 10, at the Cape Henlopen High School theater in Lewes. This lovely production is the final opera in the 2013-14 season for The Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD series.

A peerless pair of Rossini virtuosos join forces in “La Cenerentola” - a vocal tour de force for mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, singing her first Met performances of the Cinderella title role, and the high-flying tenor Juan Diego Flórez, as her Prince Charming. Alessandro Corbelli and Luca Pisaroni complete the cast, with Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leading the effervescent score.

In addition to the opera performance, the HD series features Met opera stars conducting live interviews with cast and/or various production crew members while showing behind-the-scene workings.

Admission for The Met: Live in HD broadcasts is $22 for Met members, $25 for adults, $22 for seniors (65 plus), $15 for students (with ID), $15 for children (12 and under). Seating is on a first come, first-served basis (no reserved seats). The doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and there will be one intermission break during the live broadcast. Online reservations are available at www.rehobothfilm.com. Admission will be available at the door with payment by cash or check only.
