Mother’s Day walk in memory of deceased children set May 11

May 3, 2014

Last year’s inaugural Mother’s Day walk by the Lighthouse Chapter attracted a dozen bereaved parents and family members who made a short, quiet stroll along the Junction & Breakwater Trail as a remembrance for their deceased children.

“This year, on our second scheduled walk” said Chapter Leader Marge LaFond, “We are hoping to double participation and create an annual tradition for our chapter as a memorial to honor our children.”

Parents, grandparents and family members are asked to meet at the Breakwater & Junction Trail head behind the Oceanside Outlets Mother’s Day, May 11, at 12:30 p.m. Chapter board member Bonnie Luck and LaFond will display several clusters of balloons to mark the location where bereaved parents and families can gather at the trail. The walk will follow the Junction & Breakwater Trail for a leisurely stroll which should last no more than an hour. After the walk, Lighthouse Chapter members will release live butterflies which symbolize renewed life, resurrection and life after death.

No registration is required and for more information call LaFond at 302-259-0212.
