Rehoboth scooter thief pleads guilty

April 29, 2014

A Georgetown man has pleaded guilty to stealing a Vespa scooter from a Rehoboth Beach home last summer.

Rehoboth police say on Aug. 4, Devante Williams, 21, stole the scooter from the front of a home in the 100 block of Henlopen Avenue and then attempted to sell it on Craigslist. Police received a tip from a citizen about the listing, and the victim was able to identify the scooter. Rehoboth police then identified the listing person as Williams, who was arrested on Sept. 23.

Williams was placed on probation and ordered to pay $3,000 and court fines. Police said the scooter was never recovered.

Anyone with more information is asked to call Lt. William Sullivan at 227-2577 or contact Crime Stoppers at
