Re-elect Bonnie Osler on May 10

May 4, 2014

I would like to share my thoughts on why I am voting for Bonnie Osler May 10. First I believe Bonnie has worked very hard for the last two years to learn the job of Lewes City Council member. That required not only attending countless city, county and state meetings, but also much interaction with our citizens to hear their ideas and concerns. Bonnie has learned the job and is now well positioned to represent us on the important issues facing the city. Second, I am very impressed with Bonnie’s obvious careful attention to maintaining the fiscal viability of Lewes. Given our position on the coast, we must have the reserves to meet challenges from Mother Nature. In addition, I feel strongly Lewes must avoid the fiscal problems of many less-well-managed municipalities. Bonnie has worked hard to keep our fiscal house in order.

While Bonnie has focused on many other important issues, I will only mention one other - the moratorium she sponsored on townhouse development in the Marine Commercial District. Land use in this area should have an overall plan, not piecemeal decisions. I am glad Bonnie was in the forefront of this issue.

Lastly, I think Bonnie is a really nice person. I am honored to know her as a friend. And I am glad that she represents the citizens of Lewes. Please consider giving her one of your votes for council May 10.
