Artworx 19971 artists' showcase Mischief in Color starting May 10 at CAMP Rehoboth

Artworx 19971 will host an opening reception for a new exhibit, Mischief in Color, from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 10, at CAMP Rehoboth, 37 Baltimore Ave.

The nine artists of Artworx 19971 have worked together many years and are inspired by each other’s artistic responses to the Delaware shore. Artworx 19971 artists work in a diverse range of styles, from traditional to impressionism, expressive realism, primitive, abstract, and outsider art.

The nine local artists are all members of the Rehoboth Art League. They have their own online gallery at www.Artworx19971.com. Most continue to take classes at Wilmington University and RAL.

The nine artists are: Joyce Blakeslee, an acrylic and oil painter who creates beautiful seascapes and tropical sunsets as well as domestic scenes of great intimacy; Jane Knaus, a watercolor, acrylic, and multimedia artist who has exhibited regularly on the local art scene; Ken Kusterer, a social justice artist who depicts national heroes of liberation as well as the struggles of the disenfranchised in this world; Carol Lucia-Passo, whose bold and challenging themes don’t deter her from creating intriguing paintings in both oil and acrylics; Cecilia Ludwig, an artist who paints with her heart as well as her brush and finds inspiration in local scenes, holidays and memories of her childhood; LaVerne McIntyre, an oil and acrylic painter who excels in painting boardwalk life in Rehoboth Beach as well as still lifes and everyday scenes; Melissa McLean, who creates intimate portraits of people and pets, as well as ambitious scenes of ocean life; Linda Minkowski, a lifelong artist and respected teacher at several arts venues, whose work has many facets: watercolor, acrylic, oil, and digital art; and Ron Tate, the master of acrylic abstracts and colorful paintings, known locally for his Pencil and Arches series.

The exhibit will run through Thursday, May 22.
