Clear Space alumni to perform evening of 'just GIVING' May 10

May 7, 2014

Clear Space Theatre Company is set to welcome back three former members of its acting company for a one-night-only performance. Schyler Conaway, Michael Matthias, and Dana Peragallo, who all relocated from Sussex County to New York City nearly two years ago, will take to the Clear Space stage Saturday, May 10.

Along with fellow NYC artists Jenna Pinchbeck and Will Shuler, the group will bring their evening of music, “just GIVING,” to Rehoboth Beach immediately following the evening's performance of “Avenue Q.” The group originally presented the cabaret at The Duplex in New York City in February as a fundraiser for Autism Speaks and raised over $2,000.

Selections for the evening cover the gamut of musical theater, ranging from Stephen Sondheim's “Company” to the recent Tony-winning musical “Matilda,” the hit animated film “Frozen” to the short-lived musical TV drama “Smash,” and many things in between.

“We had such a great time performing together and raising money for a terrific cause the first time around, we wanted the show and the fundraising to carry on,” said Matthias. “Since Clear Space was our artistic home for so long, it seemed perfect to bring our new family of friends from New York City and raise money for an organization we care about so deeply. We're thrilled that Clear Space is welcoming us back with open arms!”

The trio's history with Clear Space reaches back to the inception of the organization. Conaway performed in the ensemble of the very first full-scale production, “Oklahoma!” in summer 2005, and continued to perform in various productions and events through 2010. Matthias began with the production of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” in 2007 and appeared in numerous productions through 2012, while also acting as the organization's PR director for over two years.

Peragallo, Clear Space's longtime director of development, also performed with Clear Space for a majority of its 10 years in Rehoboth Beach in productions such as “Dirty Blonde,” “Blithe Spirit,” “Cabaret,” and “Annie,” among many others, in addition to being a great presence in the Clear Space Arts Institute as an instructor.

“Just GIVING: An Evening of Music to Benefit Clear Space Theatre Company” will play one night only at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, May 10, at the Clear Space Theatre, 20 Baltimore Ave. in Rehoboth Beach. Admission for the evening is free, but patrons are strongly encouraged to make a donation to Clear Space in lieu of a ticket.
