Cape boys' tennis looks to finish season strong

May 6, 2014

The Cape Henlopen boys' tennis team is having its best season in quite a while, posting an 8-4 Henlopen Conference record and an 8-5 overall record. The Vikings can reach the 10-win mark with wins in their final two matches.

Singles play is led by Ryan Thornberg in the top spot, Evan Lesko as No. 2 and Danny Myers as No. 3. Competing for the Vikings' first doubles team are Hughie Lutz and Ben Emery, with the duo of Jason Harris and Brandon VanVorst as second doubles.

Quinn Ludwicki and Ali Mahdi did a nice job substituting for the second doubles in a close May 3 nonconference match against Lower Cape May Regional High School from New Jersey at home. Cape May went back across the bay with the win after having to work hard to earn the prize.

The Vikings are back in action with a match at home against Seaford Wednesday, May 7. Cape will end the season at the Henlopen Conference Tennis Championships Thursday, May 8, through Saturday, May 10, at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach.
