Don Ayotte of Georgetown will run for the 20th District Representative seat in Delaware’s General Assembly. The Independent Party of Delaware nominated Ayotte at their Sussex County Convention on May 2 with a unanimous vote of the executive committee.
Ayotte planned to officially file at the county department of elections at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7.
If elected, Ayotte said, he would honor and uphold the United States and Delaware constitutions, read all bills before voting on them and oppose all unconstitutional, repressive and/or defective legislation.
“It’s time for a change and the two major parties will not provide the change the American people desire,” he said. “ Americans are tired of the two-party political system and the infighting between them, while nothing gets done for the average American citizen.”
The seat is currently held by Republican Stephen Smyk of Milton. Democrat Marie Mayor of Milton has also filed to run for the seat.
