Ronald L. Carey Sr., 79, of Ellendale passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Ronald was born in Milton, the son of the late Arthur R. and Mary Porter Carey. He grew up in Milton and lived in Rehoboth Beach for many years with his wife and family. He was a loving father and family man and a longtime caregiver of his wife Shirley.

He owned and operated Carey’s painting. He was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past worthy grand patron.

He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He loved to travel and visit national parks and historical sites.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Carey of Ellendale; his daughter, Linda Browning of Lincoln; three sons, Ronald Carey Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bethany Beach, David Carey and his wife Michele of Rehoboth Beach, and Michael Carey and his wife Michelle of Ellendale; two half brothers, Matthew Carey of Malvern, Fla. and Mark Carey of Naperville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 14, at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Burial will be private.
