Darlene Akerly Walls, retired cashier

Darlene Akerly Walls, 66, of Seaford, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at home.

Darlene was born in Salisbury, Md., daughter of the late Lester and Beatrice (Payne) Akerly. She was a cashier with Redner’s Warehouse Markets for many years, retiring several years ago.

Darlene had been actively involved in and was a former member of First State Antique Tractor Association, Eastern Shore Threshermen and Collectors Association, and Delaware Mobile Surf-Fisherman. She was an avid reader and graduate of the Milton High School Class of 1966.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert G. Walls; a daughter, Michelle Walls of Seaford; a son, Robert Scott Walls and wife Christina, of Ft. Drum, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Ronald Kime, Ashley Walls, Joshua Walls and Amber Felts; and three sisters, Nancy Ioli of Great Falls, Va., April Hippensteel, of Hanover, Pa. and Joan Reamer of Sierra Vista, Ariz.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 12, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
