CHSP to offer informational programs Memorial Day weekend

Cape Henlopen State Park will offer a variety of programs during Memorial Day weekend.

Search for dolphins on the Dolphin Watch Saturday, May 24 at 9:30 a.m. Discover why bottlenose dolphins return to local waters every spring, and learn where and when it’s best to look for them. Meet at the Seaside Nature Center. This program is intended for ages 5 and up with a paying adult, and costs $2 per person.

 

Head to the bay to see one of nature’s amazing scenes – the horseshoe crabs spawning Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Participants will learn about these ancient creatures, their mysterious lives, and why they are so important to human health. Meet at the Seaside Nature Center. This program is intended for ages 5 and up with a paying adult, and costs $3 per person.

 

Campfire Circle at the Campground Amphitheater will begin at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, May 25. The evening’s topic is Night Sights - how do nocturnal animals see and find each other in the dark? Participants will find out through activities and stories. This free program is intended for ages 5 and up with an adult. Be sure to bring sticks and marshmallows for roasting after the program!

Space is limited, so call 302-645-6852 for information or to preregister for any or all of these programs.

The Seaside Nature Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Borrow-A-Bike program is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Park entrance fees are in effect.
