'Sue' Caroline Shepherd, devoted Methodist

“Sue” Caroline Wells Shepherd of Millsboro, formerly of the Essex area, Baltimore, Md., joined her Lord after a brief illness at home with her family Tuesday, May 6, 2014.

Sue was active in the affairs of the Essex and Long Neck United Methodist Churches throughout her life, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women and past leader of devotions. She was a member of the choir and representative to the Annual Methodist Convention, and was serving as a member of the Staff/Pastor/Parish Relations Committee at the time of her passing.

She was a faithful church member, caring mother and loving wife, and will be missed by all. Sue was the daughter of Claribel Brown and Edward Wells, and was preceded in passing by her husband of 60 years, John A. Shepherd; and by one son, J. Edward Shepherd. Survivors include her brother, Richard I. Wells; two sons and three grandchildren, Neal Shepherd and his son Gabriel Van Loon of Durham, N.C., and Paul L. Shepherd of Crumpton, Md. and his daughters, Caitlin Shepherd of Charleston, S.C. and Megan Shepherd of Hilton Head Island, S.C.

A memorial service in her honor will be held Saturday, May 31, at 11 a.m., at the Long Neck Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro.
