Sussex should support senior transportation

May 20, 2014

On purpose, the adopted land use plan for Sussex County deliberately invites retirees to "come on down." One expectation is that there will be safe, efficent, reliable transportation. When one can no longer drive, then what?

Para-transit, provided by DART is in deep financial trouble and must make changes.

The information provided you regarding the Senior Transportation Network is right on target. This plan provides a proven way to address the need of our senior residents (who pay taxes) to have safe, reliable transportation.

Sussex County Council, by supporting an established transportation plan, would be showing real leadership and making an investment for the future.

I am a senior and know I am facing the stark reality of losing my independence. There are many more in the same situation.

I urge your fiscal support and ask that you lead the way in Sussex County. Safe, reliable transportation is a must!
