Delaware Arts Alliance Executive Director Guillermina Gonzalez has announced that DAA will hold an arts advocacy learning and networking event, Arts Rendezvous in Sussex County, at 4:30 p.m., Monday, June 9, at Possum Point Players' Possum Hall in Georgetown.

Arts Rendezvous in Sussex County at Possum Point Players is the first in a series of DAA learning and networking events for Kent, New Castle, and Sussex counties. The programs will educate and engage the arts community about impactful arts advocacy and will facilitate the creation of a strong base of advocates through DAA’s Free Individual Membership Campaign.

Liane Hansen, former senior host of NPR’s "Weekend Edition Sunday" and a DAA member, will be the Arts Rendezvous in Sussex County spokesperson and convener. A resident of Sussex County, Hansen is active in the theater community, performing at Clear Space Theatre Company.

Ann Marie Miller, executive director of ArtPrideNJ, will be the event speaker. Prior to joining ArtPride in 1995, Miller served as director of development at McCarter Theatre, a Tony-award winning regional theater and performing arts center. Miller, who has over 30 years of experience as an arts manager, will consider, “How to be an Effective Arts Advocate: the New Jersey Experience.”

Gonzalez said, “DAA is pleased to offer an opportunity for artists and arts advocates to network and participate in professional development. Through Arts Rendezvous, we plan to convene the arts community in a nurturing forum to facilitate strong arts advocacy in Delaware.”

DAA Arts Rendezvous in Sussex County is $5 for DAA members and $10 for nonmembers, payable at the door. Light fare will be served, and advance reservations are recommended. Those interested should RSVP to nmercado@delawareartsalliance.org by June 2 to attend.

In January, DAA launched its Free Individual Membership plan with the goal of increasing membership to 500 by December 2014. For more information, go to www.delawareartsalliance.org.
