Mr. Landreth C. Adams Jr., 76, of Seaford passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
Mr. Adams was born March 19, 1938, in Willow Grove, Pa. to the late Landreth C. Adams Sr. and Anna Lentz Adams. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two sisters.
Landy retired from Schmidt Baking Co. after 30 years of service. He also worked at Dupont Co., Melvin Joseph Construction Co., and formerly owned his own business, Adams Lime and Gravel of Georgetown.
He was a member of Asbury U.M. Church in Seaford, American Legion Post in Laurel, and served with the Delaware Army National Guard. He volunteered with Heroes Haven in Sharptown, Md., loved stock car racing and was a part of the Hardscrabble “Dirty Dozen.” He enjoyed his place in Chincoteague, Va. and was a member of the “Meat Loaf Gang” there. He loved to socialize and never met a stranger. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sally A. Adams of Seaford; two sons, Landreth C. Adams III and his wife Kelly of Seaford and Kenneth P. Adams and his wife Tracy of Millsboro; three stepchildren, Jack Kenneth Mitchell and his wife Dawn of Harrington, Patricia Scott and her husband Sam of Seaford, and Arron Rust and his wife Christine of Milford. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Renee Adams of Seaford; as well as many nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at the Laurel American Legion, 12168 Laurel Road.
