Final Delmarva Chicken Festival June 20-21 offers fun for all ages

May 25, 2014

The 65th Delmarva Chicken Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, June 20-21, at the Queen Anne's County 4-H Park near Centreville, Md., and with it comes a promise of fun for all ages. Over the event's 65-year history, it has always been designed as an affordable, family-friendly event. While adults will find the historical poultry displays, car show, farmers market, arts and crafters, commercial vendors, and nonprofit exhibits of interest, there will be other activities scheduled specifically with children in mind.

Children’s entertainment will be offered 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Snippy Doodles will be sharing her clowning artistry and balloon magic, and on Saturday there will be juggling demonstrations with master juggler Carlos Mir of Salisbury, Md. Other attractions include exotic animals, a petting barn, and pony rides. Touch-a-Truck will provide kids a close look at a variety of big trucks, and Scales and Tales, an environmental education program of the Maryland Park Service, will afford up-close encounters with wildlife native to Maryland.

In the Main Exhibit Hall, baby chicks will be hatching on site, and plenty of fluffy baby chicks for petting will provide great photo opportunities for parents and grandparents. Educational, take-home activities will be distributed to provide continued entertainment for the ride home.

For all ages, there will be delicious food, including chicken from the festival's well-known Giant Fry Pan, hand-dipped ice cream, baked goods, and much more.

Admission to the Delmarva Chicken Festival is free, and many of the event's attractions will be offered at no charge. Parking will be conveniently available on or near the festival grounds.

The Delmarva Chicken Festival is sponsored by Delmarva Poultry Industry Inc., the trade association for the meat chicken industry on the Delmarva Peninsula. For more information, go to www.dpichicken.org and click on 2014 Delmarva Chicken Festival or go to www.visitqueenanne's.com.
