In honor of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives serving and protecting their fellow Americans, the Sussex Technical High School criminal justice career-technical students and JROTC cadets performed the half-staff flag-raising ceremony on the morning of May 15 in observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Law enforcement officers from Delaware State Police Troop 7 and Troop 5, as well as Shawn Brittingham from the Milford Police Department, who was shot on the night Georgetown Police Officer Chad Spicer was killed, were honored guests at the ceremony. Afterward, Brittingham spoke to the sophomore criminal justice class.
