Iconic barn defaced with graffiti

May 28, 2014

The Townsend barn on King's Highway in Lewes was defaced with graffiti May 16-18. Considered a Class A misdemeanor under Delaware law, those convicted of the crime face a minimum fine of $500 plus 200 hours of community service. At least half of that time must be spent removing graffiti from public buildings. As of presstime, Delaware State Police had no report on file about the graffiti painted at the base of one of barn's two silos.
