Police investigating hit-and-run crash involving bicyclist in Rehoboth

The Delaware State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that happened May 26 near Rehoboth Beach and sent an elderly bicyclist to the hospital.

About 1:17 p.m., Victor Epolito, 70, of Milton, was riding his bicycle eastbound on the shoulder of Holland Glade Road about a quarter mile east of Route 1, when an unknown vehicle struck the rear of his bike, ejecting him onto the roadway. The vehicle continued in an eastbound direction and failed to stop. Epolito was transported to Beebe Healthcare, where he remains with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

No description of the vehicle or operator were able to be obtained during the preliminary investigation.
