Charged twice in less than an hour, Georgetown woman sent to jail

May 29, 2014

A 46-year-old Georgetown woman faces charges for two separate incidents May 28 that occurred within an hour.

In the first incident occurred when Abigail C. Handy entered the Liquor Plus store at Bramhall Street and DuPont Boulevard, said Lt. Lawrence A. Grose of the Georgetown Police Department.

Handy put a bottle of rum in a plastic bag and tried to leave the store without paying for it, Grose said. She was charged with shoplifting and released pending a future court date.

About 45 minutes later, Grose said, Handy went to the Georgetown Donut Connection, where she was disorderly with staff and customers. Police charged her with disorderly conduct. She was committed to Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution in default of unspecified bond.
