Louise M. Conaway, retired paraprofessional

Louise M. Conaway, 76, of Georgetown, passed away Sunday June 1, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes.

Mrs. Conaway was born in Georgetown, the daughter of the late Herman Mitchell and Bertie Lowe.

Louise retired from Indian River School District in 1999 after 23 years where she served as a paraprofessional and worked in the cafeteria. Mrs. Conaway was a member of the St. John’s UM Church and was past secretary of the UM Women for 19 years. She was also past secretary of Little League World Series 1981 team. She enjoyed knitting, crafting, crossword puzzles, cooking, and mostly watching her grandkids. She was known to a lot of people as Aunt Beasey and Weezie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Thomas Downes; and two sisters, Dorothy M. Morris and Ellen Todd.

She is survived by her husband; J. Russell Conaway; two sons, Terry and wife Holly, Timmy and wife Beth, all of Georgetown; one daughter, Kelly Conaway and fiancé Tracy Tyndall of Milton; siblings, Dolly James and husband Richard, Norma Lee Talley and husband Andy, and Sallie Conaway and husband Frank, all of Georgetown; grandchildren, Chris and Clay Conaway, Raelyn Downes, Taylor and Sommer Tyndall; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Baxter.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday June 7, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Georgetown.
