Doris W. Hobbs, full time homemaker

Doris W. Hobbs, 86, of Milford, passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday, June 4, 2014, while in the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Doris was born in Milford June 1, 1928, daughter of the late Charles V. and Kathryn (Hobbs) Wilkerson. She was a full time homemaker with many special talents. Doris enjoyed sewing, knitting and china painting, was a compassionate caregiver to her friends in need and a very proud grandmother. Doris was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a devoted member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ormond H. Hobbs Jr., and her brother, Charles H. Wilkerson.

Doris is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Robin and Dr. Robert Stewart of Farmington, Ga., and Dr. Debra Hobbs of Lewes; a sister, Margaret A. Maull of Milford; three grandchildren, Kate Timberlake and her husband Louis, Carey Stewart, and Asia Hobbs; and a special friend, Henry Powell of Milford.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 9, at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow the services in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113.
