Thought on Postal Lane/Cedar Grove problems

June 16, 2014

Normally, I am a big supporter of the Delaware State Police, but I don't understand their obsession with speeding on Postal Lane in Lewes, when right down the road at the Postal Lane/Plantation Road interchange people are wantonly passing on the shoulders in both directions of Plantation Road.

In my opinion, that's a far more dangerous practice than going 40 mph in a 30 mph zone. Furthermore, the practice impedes people who are trying to either turn left off Cedar Grove or left off Postal. And, our crack DelDOT organization put up traffic poles to prevent something that I have never seen happen at this interchange which I use several times a day.

Our money would have been better spent to block the shoulder in both directions so people cannot use it to pass turning vehicles. I'd hazard a guess that over half the motorists aren't even aware of this law. The Delaware State Police would do better to help people get that education while at the same time improving traffic flow at that dangerous intersection.
