Ronald James Fogerty, retired vice president

Ronald James Fogerty, 87 of Lewes, passed away Saturday, June 07, 2014, at his late residence. He was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Buffalo, N.Y., son of the late Joseph Henry Fogerty and Ida Ethel Mary Eaton Fogerty.

Mr. Fogerty most recently had worked for the Small Business Administration at Temple University as a teacher. From 1949-54 he worked for the National Gypsum Company; 1954-65 he worked for Kaiser Aluminum and from 1965-76 he served as vice president of sales and marketing for Phoenix Steel in Claymont.

Mr. Fogerty was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the American Theatre. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Lewes, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. As an avid reader he could complete two to three novels a week. One of his greatest enjoyments was attending and listening to his wife's organ recitals. Also, he was a great lover of dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn W. Cullen Fogerty; two sons, Thomas Joseph Fogerty and wife Maureen of Chicago, Ill. and James Martin Fogerty of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters Patricia Maureen Grossman of Pheonix, and Margaret Ann Memoli and husband Mark of Pottstown, Pa.; five grandchildren, Michelle, Eric, Mark, Megan and Francesca; and two great-grandchildren, Darren and Andrew.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 12, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
