American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 sets Welcome Summer fundraiser

June 14, 2014

Members of the 126 MEDEVAC Unit were anxiously awaiting their flags recently at American Legion Post 17 in Lewes.  Ladies Auxiliary members were also able to speak with Gov. Jack Markell and Sen. Chris Coons who also received pocket flags to carry in support of all Delaware troops still deployed. The flags were blessed by the 220 attendees of the Post 17 Memorial Service May 31.

Among those present at the event are (l-r) SFC Henry Szubieiski, auxiliary member Murt  Foos, Cpt. Andrew Camponelli, auxiliary member Joanne Stafford, Sgt. Keven Imhof and Pvt. Curtis Holmes.

The Ladies Auxiliary is also planning a Welcome Summer Family Fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, June 21, with music and dancing to DJ Shermanator.  Tickets, $10, will be available at the door or from Murt Foos, 1-301-706-0213.  The event will feature raffles, plenty of food and a 50-50.

The funds raised from this old-fashioned picnic in the pavilion on Lewes Beach will provide for the needs of the soldiers and the veterans they serve every day.
