Edgar "Ed" S. Seeds Jr., 70, of Lewes, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, after a two year battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born July 25, 1943, in Mount Holly, N.J., son of Marie Seeds and the late Edgar S. Seeds Sr.
Ed enjoyed a lifelong career as a linesman at GPU Energy in Cookstown, N.J., retiring in 1998. He was a member of IBEW Local 456 and was very involved in the Elks Lodge 2457 in New Egypt, N.J., where he was a past exalted ruler and maintained his membership locally at the Lewes Elks Lodge 2540, totaling 44 membership years.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles. He rode cross country several times and visited all the large bike events on the way and up and down the east coast. He enjoyed camping with his family and hosting spectacular parties at their house, aka The Seeds Bed & Breakfast.
Ed was known as one of the best friends you could ever have and will always be remembered for his love, smile and his unexpected quick witted humor which all stayed with him up until the very end.
Beth Duffy bragged she won “The Husband Lottery” after meeting Ed 16 years ago at the Rusty Rudder on a Friday afternoon in April. Ed was the most dedicated and thoughtful husband; everything he did was with his wife and family in mind. Nothing made him happier than to do something special for her or to share a special time together. His unconditional love, devotion and passion will live on forever.
In addition to his father, Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Preston Seeds and his sister, Linda Vaughn. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Elizabeth "Beth" G. (Duffy) Seeds; his son, Craig Seeds of Toledo, Ohio; two daughters: Kelly Seeds of Trenton, N.J. and Cheryl Seeds of New Egypt; five grandchildren: Corey, Zack, Justine, Kyle and Macie; his brother, Dennis Seeds and his wife Stephanie of Toms River, N.J.; his sister, Mary Seeds Harriger and her husband Bob of Huntsville, Ala.; and the apple of his eye, his Shih Tzu, Rehab.
A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Please ride your motorcycles to the service and help escort Ed as he takes one last ride in his motorcycle hearse to the Rusty Rudder Restaurant in Dewey Beach after the services.
